Evanger’s Natural Ingredients Set Them Apart
Chelsea Leah Krichevsky
August 2005
Evanger’s Dog & Cat Food Corp. has been producing and canning pet food made with all-natural ingredients since 1935, and the company’s new owners are hoping to expand toward new heights. The company is the oldest natural dog-food company in the United States.
Joel and Holly Sher have doubled Evanger’s sales since they took over in October 2002, and they expect business to double again as the company expands into new markets with new product lines.
Historically, private labeling, producing food for other companies, makes up the bulk of Evanger’s business. That food is shipped all over the United States and Europe. The Shers are also expecting to ship into Canada later this year. Evanger’s also ships to Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Israel, etc.
Since taking over the company, the Sher's have developed a full hand-packed product line, which includes new products ready to be shipped. Evanger’s new hand-packed line is a monumental improvement in canned dog food. The company has taken their extraordinary product and made it even better by using the highest in quality, human-grade ingredients, with no additives, preservatives or by-products. Evanger’s facility has been certified to produce 100 percent organic products, and many products have been certified by the Chicago Rabbinical Council as suitable for kosher events. Homes and pets suffering from diabetes can find a healthy, quality meal with Evanger’s all-meat, grain-free products.
The hand-packed specialties are processed to maintain the shape and nutrition of each recipe’s contents.
The cooking process softens those recipes with bones – making them edible, safe, wholesome and highly digestible. Evanger’s fresh, natural and superior ingredients, with no by-products, ensure quality on a human-grade level. This new hand-packed line makes the animal’s mealtime a palatable pleasure and optimizes the pet’s health.
