Evanger’s Nutritional Tips: Large Lizards
by Ian Germann
With many different species, it can be hard to understand the nutritional needs of your large lizard(s). While each species has different nutritional needs that must be met for a well-balanced diet, it’s generally a good idea to avoid feeding your lizard live mice. This practice can often lead to pet lizards being injured by the mice; an event that can be easily avoided by serving pre-killed mice. This is much more humane for the mice, and they can be easily stored in the freezer without taking up too much space.
Like many other pets, a fixed feeding schedule is a great way to maintain structure for not only the pet, but the owner as well. All living animals need water, and lizards are no different! To keep your lizard healthily hydrated, clean and fresh water should be always available.
Reptiles require moderate amounts of meat to complement their current diets. With maximum meat content and added nutrients, Evanger’s food for Ferrets & Exotic Pets is a great way to meet the nutritional needs of not only large lizards, but ferrets, hedgehogs and other obligate carnivores as well.
