Voluntary Recall Updates

From our family to yours, thank you for sharing our passion and commitment to pet nutrition, food quality and safety, as well as the importance of giving back to a global community of pet-parents that love their pets as much as we do.

Following a recall earlier this year, we have made every effort to take a challenging situation and create an exceptional level of quality control system and production in a new state of the art manufacturing facility in Markham, IL…all of which have been integral to making our company and best practices stronger than ever to manufacture premium pet foods with uncompromising USA quality – just like we have proudly done for nearly 85 years.

The Evanger’s family is honored to regularly support pet rescue organizations and shelters all across the U.S.A. and Canada by donating thousands of cans of food each year.  Deserving shelters are desperate and always are in need of donated pet foods but especially foods that offer quality nutrition to dogs and cats waiting to find their forever home.  Shelters’ need for food is so constant. We were approached by several shelters asking if we would be willing to donate recalled products that were tested as 100% safe and negative for pentobarbital.  Before taking any action, we approached the FDA to ask if we could donate healthy batches of recalled product that were tested and safe.  We received the FDA’s answer that each can of product listed in the recall must be disposed of per their instructions.  Upon receiving the FDA’s response, we complied 100% and began working with our distributors to have the product disposed of immediately.

It’s important to note that not one single can of any of the recalled pet foods have been donated to any shelter or any rescue.  Every ounce of the recalled pet food products is currently being correctly disposed of per FDA’s instructions.  Our cooperation with the FDA and our compliance to all instruction, rules and communications from the FDA remains a top priority.

The Evanger’s family will continue to work closely and in full cooperation with the FDA to always be improving the standards and quality control processes in pet food manufacturing for our company and for our entire industry that serves the pets we all love.

We greatly appreciate the outpouring of continued support we get every day from our customers, industry partners and the distributors that we serve.  Thank you!

Best,

The Evanger’s Family
